The information we collect

When you send an enquiry through our website

Our enquiry form asks for your name, phone number, email address, address and postcode, and a message. Most people include their vehicle registration and a description of the problem in the message.

When you call or message us

We see your phone number, and we note what you tell us about your vehicle and the work you need.

When we work on your vehicle

We keep your name and contact details, the address where we do the work or collect your vehicle, your vehicle’s registration, make, model and mileage, what we found and what we did, and our quotes and invoices.

When you use this website

Cookies and similar technology record things like the pages you visit and the type of device and browser you use. The cookies section below explains what they are and how to control them.

How we use your information

Data protection law only lets us use your information when we have a lawful reason. Here is what we use it for, and the reason that applies.

  • To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote You’ve asked us to, so we’re taking steps at your request before a possible contract.
  • To carry out the work you book, including collecting and returning your vehicle and ordering parts To perform our contract with you.
  • To remind you when your MOT or service is due Our legitimate interest in letting customers know their vehicle is due. You can ask us to stop at any time.
  • To keep invoices and business records To meet our legal obligations under tax and company law.
  • To keep our website working and secure, and to stop spam reaching us through the enquiry form Our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website.
  • To count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve our website Our legitimate interest in improving the website. You can object at any time, as explained under cookies.
  • To deal with a complaint or a legal claim Our legitimate interest in resolving it properly.

We contact you about your enquiry and the work you’ve booked, and we may occasionally remind you when your MOT or service is due. If you’d rather we didn’t, just tell us. We never sell your information, and we never pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We only share your information when we need to, and only what’s needed:

  • The companies that provide our website, email and phone services, which store and handle information on our behalf. That includes the company that hosts this website and passes form enquiries to us.
  • Google, which provides the reCAPTCHA check on our enquiry form, Google Analytics, and the YouTube videos on some of our pages.
  • Other businesses we need to complete the work you’ve asked for, such as a parts supplier who needs your vehicle registration to send the right part.
  • The company that processes card payments, if you pay by card.
  • Our accountant, our insurer or legal advisers if there’s ever a claim, and HMRC or other authorities when the law requires it.

Where your information is kept

Some of the companies that provide our website and email services store information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as approved contract terms, to protect it.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to any work: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Customer, job and invoice records: six years from the end of the financial year they relate to, because tax law requires it.
  • Cookies: for the times shown in the cookies section.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information, unless we have to keep it by law
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it
  • ask for information you gave us in a format you can pass to someone else
  • ask us to stop sending you reminders

To use any of these rights, send us a message using the form on our contact page, call us on 0118 338 5138, or write to us at our registered office. We may need to check who you are before we act on a request. We’ll reply within one month, and there’s normally no charge.
